Principal's Message

Hello Vena Avenue Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Vena Avenue Elementary and Vena Highly Gifted Magnet School. I can’t wait to greet all of our students on August 14th. For returning families, I look forward to seeing you all and continuing to serve you, your children and the entire Vena community. For families new to Vena, I am excited to meet you and your child. Please know that we are all here to support your child in transitioning to our amazing school. Our staff and school community are all committed to providing the best educational experience possible for your child. Let us know how we can help.

I am so excited and honored to be going into my third year as your principal. I bring to this position 24 years of experience in education, working as a teacher and administrator at the elementary and middle school levels. I truly believe that all students can achieve academic success with the right guidance and support in a nurturing and safe environment that embraces a high level of safety and high academic expectations for all students.

We cannot do the work we do without you, and we are dedicated to strengthening our home-school partnerships. I am encouraging each of you to set a goal to become more engaged in the Vena school community. That can be done by attending coffee with the principal, taking a few hours to volunteer at school, run for School Site Council or Local School Leadership, participate in some of our family events, or share your talents or skills with us. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful parent community, and your support makes a huge difference. Thank you all for your support and commitment in helping to make Vena an amazing place for our students to grow and learn!

You will also receive phone messages every Sunday and Thursday evening from me with weekly announcements regarding what is happening for the week as well as upcoming important dates and events.
